Mining is one of the easiest skill to achieve 99 level in Old school RuneScape, To increase your mining level, what you do is mine ores and gems from rocks, then use them to make bars or equipment with Smithing or just sell them for a good profit. The higher you raise your level, the more types of ores and rocks you can mine. In this guide, we will share with you the best ways and tips to get level 99 Mining for both F2P and P2P.

General Tips

Pickaxes 

The only item required to mine is a pickaxe. Pickaxes need to mine rocks. In order to achieve the greatest amount of experience and ores, players should always use the best pickaxe available, A player's Mining level determines the type of pickaxe they can mine with.The higher your Mining level, the better pickaxe you will be able to afford. The best ones are the Dragon pickaxe and the 3rd age pickaxe, both available after 61 lv.

Varrock Armour 1

Completing task sets from the Varrock Diary grants the player Varrock armour 1, which gives the player 10% chance of mine 2 ores at once while worn, increasing your overall experience rate. This is more beneficial than the Prospector Outfit for mining certain ores, such as Iron Ore.

Prospector kit

The Prospector kit obtained from Prospector Percy in the Motherlode Mine by using golden nuggets, which grants a 2.5% bonus Mining XP per ore mined. Pieces of the outfit may be purchased from Prospector Percy in the Motherlode Mine.It won’t be useful if you're trying to get to max level and be quick about it, but it's a requirement for a master clue step so you might want to get it anyway. 

Doric's Quest

The first level 1-10 can be skipped by completing Doric's Quest, which grants 1,300 Mining experience and you will immediately get level 10 Mining.

F2P Methods

Levels 1-15: Copper/Tin ore

Completing the Doric's Quest will only get you to Level 10, you will need to mine tin or copper to get from level 1 to level 15 fastly, which grant 17.5 experience per ore mined. The easiest place to do this is at the Lumbridge Swamp mining site.While it’s still slow, you can easily bang out the last five levels. 

Levels 15-99: Iron ore (Fastest Method)

Mining iron is the fastest way to get from level 15 to level 99  in F2P, which grant 35 experience per ore mined. This can be done in the Dwarven Mine or elsewhere.Once you upgrade your pickaxe to Rune, you will instantly get iron ore within the first tick.Since there are so many spots taken over by bots in F2P, it may be worth venturing into Wilderness locations like the Southern Wilderness Mine or the Hobgoblin Mine. The best place are the 3 rocks in the Al Kharid Mine. Here, you can mine all 3 ores in one tick a piece, once you reach level 41 with a Rune pickaxe, then drop all three while you're waiting for the first rock to respawn. From level 41 and above, the maximum experience rate is around 50k experience per hour.

Level 85-99: Runite Ore (Profitable Method)

Runite Ore is a highly money-making methods but extremely slow methods to reach level 99 in Mining. Mining runite rocks grants 125 experience per ore mined.The only two rocks are to the NorthWest of the Lava Maze and is a frequent hotspot for Pkers and bots. The best strategy would be to hop worlds finding rocks, including the PvP world, and have a secondary account to protect against other players.

P2P Methods

Levels 1-32: Questing

As the early levels of Mining are tedious, and mining rocks is very slow. It's highly recommend to skipped the first level 1-32 by completing Doric's Quest and The Digsite, which grants the player 16,600 Mining experience to get instantly Level 1 to Level 32. Both quests have fairly low requirements, also let players use Adamant pickaxe right from the start.

Levels 1-15: Copper/Tin ore

If for any reasons, you cannot complete any quests, you will need to mine tin or copper to get from level 1 to level 15 fastly, which grant 17.5 experience per ore mined. You will need to mine a combination of 138 copper or tin ores. The easiest place to do this is at the Lumbridge Swamp mining site. While it's still slow, you can easily bang out the last five levels.

Levels 15-75/99: Iron ore (Fastest Method)

From level 15 to 75, players should mine iron at a location that has three iron rocks in a triangle, as such a formation allows the player to mine all three rocks without moving. The recommended locations for this: the Mining Guild and the Ardougne/Legend's Guild mining area.

The Mining Guild spot nearest to the bank chest is easily the most recommended, as you'll be able to bank the ores, saving time, increasing profits and eliminating the tedium of dropping ores.

Completing the easy tasks of Varrock Diary for Varrock armour 1 is highly recommended for this method, as it gives the player 10% chance to mine 2 ores at once while worn, increasing the overall experience rate.

From level 60 and above, the maximum experience rate is around 60,000 experience per hour, and roughly 70,000 experience per hour in the pay-to-play area of the Mining Guild, with exact rates depending on current level and player speed. Each Ore grants 35 Mining XP, meaning you'll need to mine 40,267 Iron Ore to achieve Level 75. At approximately 100GP per ore, this means you'll earn around 4M GP from this process. Players that wish to avoid powermining and Motherlode Mine should continue with Iron Ore until Level 99.

Level 75 - 99: Granite (Fastest Method)

Another fastest methods for P2P From level 75 Mining is gained by 3-tick mining granite at the Quarry. While extremely click-intensive, this method offers by far the best experience rates; with good performance it is possible to achieve 115,000 - 120,000 XP per hour at 99 Mining.

As the Quarry is located in the desert, some sort of desert heat protection is necessary in order to survive. Desert amulet 4 offers immunity to the desert heat while worn, alternatively wearing the Hitpoints cape along with a regen bracelet will outheal the damage taken from desert heat. If neither of those are an option, the player can bring waterskins and fill them with the lunar spell Humidify. 

Level 30 - 99: Motherlode Mine (AFK method)

From level 33-99, the most AFK method you can do is the Motherlode Mine. Mining in the Motherlode Mine is a common way to get 99 Mining, as the experience rates at Motherlode Mine are much slower. The Motherlode Mine is located inside the Dwarven Mine in Falador.

Levels 75–99: Blast Mine (Profitable Method)

From level 75, you have access to the Blast Mine minigame to get a decent experience and good profit, which requires having 100% favour with the Lovakengj House, allows obtaining ore 10 levels below the required Mining level. Having a higher Mining level increases the chances of obtaining better ores, increasing experience and profit as a result, this is very click intensive as well, which similar to Granite. Since the chance of getting higher-level ores depend on the player's Mining level, dragon pickaxe's special attack can be used to temporarily increase the current Mining level. Equip the prospector kit when collecting the ores from the operator for extra experience. Players can gain up to around 55,000 experience per hour at 75 Mining, 65,000 experience per hour at level 90 and 70,000–75,000 experience per hour at level 99.

You can get there by using a Skills Necklace teleport, which spawns the player close to its entrance by choosing the Mining Guild option. Players can mine the ore veins within the mine, these ores are then deposited into the hopper, which may then be collected from the sack. The ores that may be obtained is dependant on your mining level. You can increase your chance of receiving higher level ores by completing the elite tasks, which increases the profit and experience. If you start at Level 61 mining, you can get well over 30,000 experience per hour. At 70 Mining, the player can expect to get roughly 30,000 experience per hour, at 85 around 42,000 experience per hour and at 99 around 53,000 experience per hour.

Levels 85-99: Runite ore (Profitable Method)

Mining runite ore is the most profitable methods, although it is the slowest due to Runite rocks are scarce and difficult to compete with other players.

The best spot is the Heroes' Guild, where there are two rune rocks. There are also another two rune rocks in the P2P only section of the Mining Guild. A set of three rune rocks can be found in the inner ring of Mor Ul Rek, though this requires the player to have a fire cape first. After completion of the Dragon Slayer II quest, 2 more rune rocks are available in the basement of the Myths' Guild.
